Our Story

The Young Debs Inc is a 501c(3) non-profit organization founded by Addie C. Ruffin, MS and Co-founded by April R. Ruffin, MD in 2002.

Our VISION: We are here to serve, inspire and build character-- all in hopes of eliciting the greatness within our young people.

Our MISSION: Our mission is to establish a community for our students capable of helping them realize their potential and shape a brighter future by providing them with access to a tutor or mentor who supports their academic, social, and emotional growth.

Throughout the years we have mentored numerous young men and women in the Baltimore metropolitan area with the assistance of our mentors and volunteers. Throughout the years the program has changed to meet the needs of its students. We have several programs including: Young Debs, Junior Debs, Gents, Debutantes and Performing Arts Outreach Programs. Our goal is to mold respectful, ethical, hardworking students who will be prepared to face life challenges. We have witnessed the power of mentorship, love and compassion towards our students.  Our Alumni have received scholarships to various undergraduate institutions and post-secondary training programs in an array of fields ranging from nursing, culinary arts, media/photography, music and the military.
